The bouncing baby bed, from Bangalore
Your bounce.Your break.
A floor bed that bounces your baby to sleep in your own rhythm, eases to stillness once they settle, and folds shut into a book you carry by its leather handle.

IIt settles your baby
Put your baby down. Take your hands away. Walk off.
Some babies will only sleep bounced in arms. Palna learns how you do it and takes the bounce over, so your arms get the evening off.
- 01It meets you
The deck waits at the top of its travel, so you don’t bend double. Once it feels your baby’s weight, it lowers them slowly, over about six seconds.
- 02Your bounce
Bounce the deck a few times with your hand. Palna picks up your rhythm and carries it on. Or turn the dial for big slow strokes, a middle rhythm, or one that feels like a walk.
- 03Hands away
Step back. It keeps the same bounce, whether your baby weighs three kilos or eight, because it sets itself to their weight each time.
- 04Then stillness
Weight sensors under the deck feel your baby settle. The motion eases off a little at a time until the bed is still, and picks up gently if they stir.

Why Palna
Our daughter would only sleep bounced in arms. Hours a day, every day.
A ₹6,590 spring cot saved us: a tap every few seconds and Baani was asleep. But one of us still had to stand over it, tapping, and it only really worked with my rhythm, not my wife’s. Palna is that bounce done properly: on a flat, firm bed, in your rhythm, carrying on without you.

One motion opens it. The same one puts it away.
- ClosedA book with a handle.
- OpensThe covers become the floor, the battens swing out, the light comes on.
- SettlesBig, slow strokes, about one a second.
- Folds awayOnly when the deck is empty.
How it opens, bounces and folds away, drawn from the real mechanism.

IIIIt closes like a book
Goes where you go.
Shut, Palna is a book of linen-covered boards with a rolled leather handle. No bag needed: the deck, walls and hood all pack inside the covers. Take it to the grandparents’, on holiday, or into the next room.

Open it flat and it wakes.
The covers become the floor, four battens swing out on the same motion, and a small red light comes on. The spine locks open. Closing it again takes two buttons a hand’s width apart, pressed together, and is blocked while there is any weight on the deck.

IVAround your baby
A small room of their own.

- 1Mesh on every sideFine mesh on all four sides and across the top keeps mosquitoes out and lets the air through.
- 2A knit hoodRises on sleeved hoops over your baby’s head end to keep lamps and daylight off their face.
- 3Filtered airA slim fan draws room air through a replaceable E12 filter and lets it fall slowly past your baby, never blowing on them. It works harder when the room’s air gets worse.
- 4One dialPress to start, turn for the rhythm, hold to stop. Usable in the dark, by anyone. No app needed.
- 5Sound that covers the cookerSoft white noise that rises for a moment when the pressure cooker whistles or the doorbell rings, then settles back.
VSafety
Flat, firm, level. Every time.
Every decision in Palna starts from safe sleep. The bounce sits under a flat, firm bed, never a sling, and every way it can go wrong ends with the deck still and level.
- Flat and firm
A firm mattress on a rigid tray. No sling, no curve, no incline.
- Straight up and down
The deck rides on a guide that keeps it level through every stroke, and it always comes to rest level.
- Gentle at every setting
Every rhythm is held below a third of the force it would take to lift your baby off the mattress, whatever they weigh.
- It catches a lean
If someone leans on the deck mid-bounce, two hydraulic catches stop it almost at once, with no electronics involved.
- Power cut or flat battery
The deck eases to a stop and settles level. It never locks mid-stroke.
- No fold by accident
The spine locks open. Closing needs two buttons pressed together, and is blocked while there is weight on the deck.
- Nothing to pull over
The mesh walls and hood let go if a sibling tugs them, rather than pulling on the bed. A knit skirt closes the gap underneath.
- Air, even if the fan stops
The hood is vented so air keeps moving on its own, and a sensor lets you know.
Designed to the bassinet safety standards ASTM F2194 and EN 1130, and independently tested to them before the first Palna ships. For naps and nights, from birth until your baby can push up on their hands and knees or sit up, and up to 10 kg.
Use Palna only on the floor, never on a bed, sofa or table. Lay your baby on their back, with nothing soft inside: no pillows, bumpers or loose blankets.

VIAt night
It keeps the dark.
A low glow at floor level and a small red check-light: enough to look in by, and gentle enough to leave on. At the end of a nap, a slow sunrise glow brings your baby round.

XQuestions
What parents ask us.
Who is it for?
Babies from birth until they can push up on their hands and knees or sit up, usually around six months, and up to 10 kg. After that they need a cot with taller sides.
Is it for naps, or for nights too?
Both. Palna is a bassinet: your baby can nap in it in the living room in the afternoon and sleep in it beside your bed at night.
How does it know my baby has settled?
Three weight sensors under the deck feel how your baby is moving. As they settle, the bounce eases off a little at a time. If they stir, it picks up again gently. There is no camera.
How is it built for safe sleep?
A flat, firm mattress, mesh on every side, and one smooth up-and-down motion that always ends level and still, including in a power cut. It is designed to the bassinet standards ASTM F2194 and EN 1130, and independently tested to them before the first one ships. More on safety
Does it need an app or Wi-Fi?
No. The dial does everything. Its microphone listens only for sudden noises like the pressure cooker, so the white noise can rise for a moment, and it never records.
What does the air panel do?
A slim, quiet fan draws room air through a replaceable E12 filter and lets it fall slowly past your baby. It never blows on them, and it works harder when the room’s air gets worse.
What about power cuts?
It runs on a 100 Wh built-in battery, about a week of naps or a full night with everything on, so a power cut changes nothing. It charges in about two hours over USB-C.
How do I clean it?
The mesh walls, the hood and the mattress cover come off and go in the washing machine. The boards wipe clean.
What if something breaks?
Palna comes with a two-year warranty. The bounce drive slides out as one module, so a repair is a courier swap, not a technician visit.
Can I try it first?
Yes. You get 30 nights at home. If it isn’t right for your family, we collect it and refund you.
What does it cost, and when can I get one?
₹29,999 at launch, including GST. The first Palnas go to homes in Bangalore in 2027. Joining the waitlist is free and commits you to nothing.
What if my baby arrives before Palna does?
Tell us your due month when you join. We invite families in order of when their baby is due, and we will tell you honestly whether Palna can reach you while your baby still fits it.
What happens after six months?
Fold it shut and keep it for your next baby, or pass it on. The mesh, hood, cover and filter are easy to replace, and the bounce drive can be swapped by courier, so a second family starts with a Palna that works like the first day.
Who is behind Palna?
Harpreet Singh, an engineer in Bangalore, who started Palna after his daughter would only sleep bounced in arms. Read our story. Write to us at hello@palna.co. We read everything.
